Michigan people have interesting nicknames for each other. If you live in the Upper Peninsula, you are a Yooper. Yoopers all talk with Scandinavian accents (tons of Finns moved in there long ago to mix with the Norwegians) and like hockey. I’ve often said that if someone from the UP married a Palestinian, they would name their kind Yassir Youbetcha. Those who live on the Lower Peninsula are called Trolls because they live under the bridge. That ‘bridge’ would be the Mackinac bridge, a suspens
