SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Quality Road is the favorite to win the $750,000 Woodward Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday. Quality Road experienced his first defeat of the season by Blame in the Whitney Handicap this summer at Saratoga.

Opponents of gambling are targeting legislation that would allow bets on horses to lose. Gambling opponents vowed Thursday to lobby Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to veto a bill to revive the state's slumping horse racing industry and allow betting on horses to lose starting in 2012.
